I often encounter people who believe that they have found their soul mate. However, 6 months to a year later, they are talking about that person as if they are the scum of the earth. You slept with the person, but now that baby has come along, that person is every kind of “ho” and every other ungodly word. It goes without saying that they only thought that they had their soul mate because they were enjoying the honeymoon phase of the relationship. But as soon as challenges arose, the relationship was over. Whenever I do run across couples that claim they are soul mates, I love to ask them, “How do you know that he/she is your soul mate?" I usually get the same answer. “Well, we really love each other, and he/she is perfect. We never argue and we both like the same things.” Sorry to burst your bubble, but never arguing and liking the same things does not make a person your soul mate. In order to know if a person is a potential soul mate, then you need to be able to define what your soul consist of. In a nutshell, your soul is your will, your emotions, your affections, the seat of your desires, your mind, and your intellect. Your soul mate will be able to rightly relate and engage you in all of those areas.
