I often give what I can afford to give when I see a homeless - TopicsExpress

I often give what I can afford to give when I see a homeless person holding a sign for money. Well today in Fleming island I saw a mom, dad, infant, and 2-3 yr old in front of panera bread holding a sign asking for money. It broke my heart to see these children put in this situation and sweating their asses off. I dig for money and circle around and pull in a parking spot to assess more of the situation. And my heart is breaking for these children. Tons of people stop and give them money and the boy was eating a hamburger. I did what I felt was best and called the police dept and asked them to send someone out a cop or social worker. I told them it was unfair to those children and someone needed to help them and guide them to resources and make sure the children had somewhere to go home to. The police dept seemed concerned and said they were sending someone out. 30 minutes went by no one came. I came home and discussed it with Chase and he said he had seen the same family up near brannenfield Walmart earlier today. Hmmm either way, whether they are needy or not, I disagree they put their children out there and disappointed they police dept sent no one out. Still thinking of those children :(
