I once read a quote stating that The gift of life is everyones to give. In Malaysia and especially in the Punjabi community, organ donation is a mere idea far from everyday lives. With reasons ranging from fear, faith or simply being too young, we continue to toy with idea of being an organ donor. When we are born with the ability to change someones life, why waste it? My beloved friend Maneesha, aged 21, who passed away on 30th December 2014, was an organ and tissue donor. At such a tender age, leaving all orthodox thinking and culture behind, Maneesha pledged to help those in need. Little did Maneesha know that her pledge would go such a long way. Through a confidential source, I have receive the news that Maneeshas organs and tissue donations manage to save and help approximately 50 lives! Maneesha is truly an inspiration to me. I choose to share this with all of you with hopes that she will continue to inspire all young and old. Organ donation is not a tragedy, but it can be a beautiful light in the midst of one.
