I only exercise to lose weight and get thinner. I can burn far more calories doing light cardiovascular work than heavy lifting, shouldnt I just stick to the treadmill? if I lift weights wont I get heaps buff and look like a woman whos doing body building? The answer is NO! I mean continue doing cardiovascular training, but add an extra ingredient - STRENGTH TRAINING... Or weight training or resistance training.. Whatever you want to call it.. ADD IT! You will get heaps stronger and heaps toned! Unless of course your intention is to bulk up then yes you can get their too. anyways, as I was saying.... Cardiovascular exercise is a great way of burning the fat we all know that, but adding a little strength training to your workouts will earn you extra calories every day. You will even burn extra calories while youre sleeping or sitting on the couch reading my posts. Wow COOLNESS you say? Yep I thought the exact same thing. Aerobic exercise may burn a few hundred extra calories for dinner, but for every additional amount of muscle you gain, your body burns around 50 extra calories every day of the week. ALSO dont be shocked if you may seem like youve put on weight or your weight doesnt change... Muscle does weigh more than fat, so dont be alarmed, the good news is, youll feel and look tighter, toned and so STRONG... You like this dont you!?
