I opened an account with Citibank Singapore because the bank - TopicsExpress

I opened an account with Citibank Singapore because the bank claims to be fee-free for Citibank customers when they use a Citibank-branded ATM anywhere in the world. So Ive been using my Citibank debit and credit cards to make withdrawals here in China -- imagine my horror and shock when I logged on to my internet banking and discovered I had been charged more than S$50 for EACH TIME I made a withdrawal using the credit card. S$50! At no point during the withdrawal process at the ATM was I made aware of these additional charges. (The withdrawal process for both credit and debit card is exactly the same -- your approval is only sought for the SGD equivalent of the foreign currency amount you withdraw). S$50 is about ten times the fee that other competing banks charge to make withdrawals at their ATMs, and customers would always be informed of all additional charges at the point of withdrawal. When I called up Citibanks customer care hotline, the only thing they would refer me to was the fine print that I had signed when I applied for the card. Yes, Citibank, referring customers to the fine print creates lots of goodwill and makes them totally want to stay with you. Making charges transparent at the point of withdrawal is too troublesome for you. Citibank, you suck. Its your right not to waive those fees, but as soon as Im done clearing these charges (which will be VERY SOON), Im cutting up my card. Its been nice knowing you. Bye bye, Citibank! xoxo
