I own a Bulldogge who needed her tail docked (amputated) due to medical reasons, after it had been broken, so I feel that its important for vets to be able to continue to learn how to do this procedure properly. I also own a Rottweiler, (docked) and my partners family owns two Dobermans (natural ears and tails). I believe that the surgery is no more painful than a spay or neuter, done at such a young age that it does not cause trauma to the dogs. Docking and cropping should be kept as part of the breed standard. Let individuals keep the choice to dock or crop, instead of a ban forcing an ideal on everyone.
