I pick things up and put them down. Thats what we did--my engineer - TopicsExpress

I pick things up and put them down. Thats what we did--my engineer and I on that sunny, Floridian, April day. We were packing. We were beginning our journey to simplify our lives and selling the condo was the first step. After a few trips to Home Depot for boxes and packing paper, we dove straight into all the stuff. We had a system and it worked well. Four hands working together, four legs running in sync. Like Minds--engineer and English Major, meeting in the middle, getting things done. And then, Lee walked in. Lee, the realtor. Lee, the questioning one. Lee, the heart-filled-with-tears one. None of us could have prepared for what happened that day. God brought us to it and the Spirit did not fail to equip. Lees wife had passed away in June, 2010. It was March, 2010 for me and December, 2010 for Ron. And that is how the witnessing began. We cared, and he knew it. There was much to be done with so much surrounding us. But, the time had come for Lee to say another goodbye to what once was. All we know is the man who walked in was not the same man who walked out. God saw to that. Ron and I had an interlude in our acts of picking things up and putting them down. God does show up in the most unlikely places. Smack dab in the middle of small-to-medium boxes and dishes being wrapped in packing paper. There He was in all His glory--growing and changing Lee. Through us, He was encouraging and affirming this man who had so many questions he didnt know where to begin. But, somehow in the middle of all that, the dam broke and a bridge was built. Grief was stepping aside and hope took over. The war in his heart had stopped; he was free. What an awesome privilege that God chose us--as we picked things up and put them down--to be the ones to deliver His message. Today, back from Florida, I find myself picking memories up and writing them down. And what about Lee? Hes doing very much the same. He has a lot of paperwork to do with stacks and stacks of it on top of his desk because he sold the condo and, in the selling, his life was changed. All praise and glory to our King! Romans 12:10 was with us that day. Yes, we needed to get things done. Yes, we were on a time frame and the clock was ticking. But, God proved there are no clocks in Heaven and He is always right on time. Romans 12:10: Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Chuck Swindoll describes this verse: We are most like Jesus when we consider what another person needs as more important than what we may need. Yes, my friends, the packing of the boxes could wait and they did. God saw to it. His tear-filled-son had come back home.
