There are a lot of shoulda-beens from earlier decades, but because the charts move more slowly today, theres an even better chance for great songs to get left out of the top 10. So Im going to post some songs I like from the 1990s and 2000s that, to my ears, [It] Really Shoulda been Top 10 hits. Let me start with a #19 hit from 1990, from a group well known in alt-rock circles in the late 1980s. The mix of this song is muddy, echoey, almost Spectorian (if thered been more instruments); I thought my I.R.S. label 45 (from the UK; there never was a US 45, though it was on a cassette single) was defective until I heard the mix on the album Bloodletting, which is basically the same ...
