I posted this yesterday, and Im posting it again today because its important. I just did something that I never thought Id ever do. Previously, when harassed by Heather Williams to do this, I flat out refused. I just registered for a 5K race. At this particular time, I dont know if Ill actually show up. Its at 8 am on a Saturday morning, and I dont even how much a K is (someone told me a 67 feet), and Ive been told that driving the Gator in this race would isnt allowed because it would give me an unfair advantage and Id possibly run over someone. But this is for a good cause. I cant think of a better cause. I cant think of anyone who has done more to promote downtown businesses, or the local art community than Holly Moore! Also, there was a time when Imagine Studio for Hair & Art gave free hair cuts to unemployed individuals so they could look professional for job interviews. There is a lot of overhead (rent, etc) involved in running a business on broad street, and taking the time to offer so many people free haircuts was something major. A lot of people benefited form this. Our community, as a whole, benefited from this. There have been times when I was unemployed, or under employed, and Holly has told me You look rough, you need a haircut. And I got a free haircut. So I have definitely benefited from this same generosity. And free haircuts for people trying to better themselves is definitely not the only example, but its the one that kinda hits home as I search for my next career. Currently, there is a need for about 7 more business sponsors, at $160 each. For this amount, youll get some good advertising, and the ability to set up a both at the event. The business name will go on the back of the T-Shirt, too, I think. A certain mount of runners (100+) are needed so that a larger cut of the proceeds go to Holly as opposed to going to the administrative costs of the company that handles registration. And to register, you go to active, search Run for Moore Life, and youll find it. It was easy. Its my birthday. That means yall have to do what I say. So go and register. And spread the word! Everyone who registers will possibly get the opportunity to see me walk 5 ks. Im not making any promises, but Im thinking some people will still be there when I show up at the crack of noon. Getting up early on a Saturday Morning, and running (or walking) goes against everything I believe in, but Im 95% certain that I may show up! Ok.
