I pull up and get out of the van; thats when it hits me. Its everywhere~! Who did this? It was death and carnage everywhere I looked. Id heard about it on the news; they called it, jokingly, mass suicide, but I didnt think Id see it first-hand. How could they be so flippant about such things? About 20 meters away were 2 who were sifting through the carnage looking for life. I tried to make my way through, pushing death aside with each step. I found myself holding my breath and wishing I could block it from my mind. I couldnt help them; I didnt know how. All I could do was promise that Id come back and help with the clean up, once they found all that was living among the dead. It wasnt gonna be pretty and it wasnt gonna be easy, but someone must be brave enough to face this destruction so that others wouldnt have to. I guess Im that person. Sigh. Now I just have to find the rake and hope I didnt disturb the chipmunks too much. Just a part of my journey...
