I pulled the following from one of lovechilds threads. If the recent protests have made you feel anything - joy, solidarity, hope, anger, resentment, confusion - anything at all, please read this. To quote a friend who put it best earlier today: In all seriousness though, and I know I cant let it get to me, but every one of those complaints about the traffic, every comment calling for the arrests of protesters and the use of fire hoses, they all translate to Black lives dont matter. My commute matters. Your life doesnt. Your familys lives dont. It hurts. And to quote another: The people with the power can ignore protests outside of government buildings. They can set up free speech zones that are well outside of earshot of anyone that matters. It is much more difficult to ignore this. In order for this country to take the issues seriously, some pain needs to be felt. I am not without compassion for the innocent folks that are impacted or even hurt by these protests, but I firmly believe it is a neccessity to bring about meaningful discussion.
