I purchased a leopard tortoise as a pet in January 1999. It died roughly a decade later. What I dont think Ive ever told anyone is that shortly after I got it, and for the entire remainder of its life, I had a recurring dream of finding a nest of hatching tortoise eggs and a seemingly endless population of baby tortoises that I would frantically try to collect before some unknown looming fate befell them. To the best of my recollection, I havent had that dream since the tortoise died several years ago. Last night, for the first time, I had a similar dream; but instead of finding a mass of hatching baby tortoises, I found an equally numerous assortment of fully grown tortoises, all different and unique, and once again I tried to collect them all to protect them from unidentified impending doom. I dont think any of it means anything, but it was pretty interesting.
