I put my boat in and went for a ride today.. A bit of ice in the marina, but clear enough by the ramp to launch. Wind was up from the North, water is high-ish’, about even with end of launch ramp dock and it’s minus 2 degrees! Rough ride and spray was freezing on contact making for an ‘exciting’ trip as the inside of my boat was coated in a slick layer of ice by the time I got half way out Indian Channel. I did get to see a Snowy Owl and several swans. The landscape on the lake is completely changed ALL (most) the weeds are gone on the west side of the Gut. I didn’t get a picture, but it’s lake all the way to Rabbit island and Smokehouse from the Gut – the weeds were trapped in the ice and all torn off when the wind shifted it all last week. It was kind of disorientating! The pictures tell the story. Most of them are of missing dock sites.
