I put the news on Twitter, and need to let all my fishing friends know that Mexico hasnt followed through with the promised written permission for the sport fleet to keep bluefin in Mexican waters. Only Mexico, only that country could give verbal permission and then not follow through. So now, Ken Franke of SAC has to instruct all sport boats not to keep bluefin until the written permission arrives. Of course fishermen on sport boats went with the verbal permission and began keeping bluefin tuna. But as of right now, at 3:46 p.m. on Wednesday Aug. 13, the bluefin closure is still on in Mexico.
