I rarely post truly personal things in my Facebook status. Today - TopicsExpress

I rarely post truly personal things in my Facebook status. Today is different. Early this morning my beloved mother, Nancy Brewer Taylor, won her final battle with cancer and went home to be with the Lord. She gave me life and she was the first to teach me about love, a lesson she continued to share with me and so many others throughout her life. We laughed, fought, cried, mourned and celebrated together. She loved God, she loved her family and we loved her. She never hesitated to share her advice (whether we wanted it or not!) and - as frustrating as it may have been sometimes - she was usually right. She taught us how to live joyfully and how to die gracefully. The most optimistic prognosis for a patient with multiple myeloma is about five years. She fought those odds and lived for twelve years after her diagnosis. And as the end got closer she told us we could cry for ourselves when she was gone but there was no need to cry for her. That was such a comfort this morning when I watched her peacefully take her last breath. I miss her already. She has been and will continue to be a shining example of the power of love for me and for all those who were blessed to know her. I do cry for our loss but smile - and sometimes laugh - at the memories. Thank you, Mom. I love you.
