I read a study once about how all it takes is one bad experience for a restaurant to lose at least 7 potential/current customers, just from word of mouth alone. Lately Ive been thinking about how this same aspect applies to cosplay and conventions as well. So often, we focus on the negative, and all it takes is one bad experience (even if its just drama, or an illness, or something completely unrelated to the con or hobby itself) for us to whine and gripe about it until it turns those around us bitter towards it as well. Its really a bummer that negativity so easily overpowers everything else...... so lets all take a moment to focus on the positive aspects of the hobby! Remember what it is about creating or wearing costumes that fuels you, motivates you, brings you joy and helps you spread that joy to others!
