I read a very interesting article titled, “New parliamentarians, new culture? Karibu, May 2014). I think the strength of the article is that is it not driven by petty bourgeois prejudice and other forms of bigotry. I can scan and email it to those who want to go through it. A bigger question is posed by the authors (Luhulere, Bunyonyo and Kodisang), “Therefore the EFF delegates [in parliament] will now earn close to a million rand per year. Will the EFF requires its members to donate the bulk of their salaries to a fund? Will the EFF MPs join other MPs in living in the lap of luxury? … These are the questions that need to be answered if the EFF is to fulfill any of the promises it made in its manifesto”.
