I read about this in the Capital Press (the only newspaper we actually get). I am flabbergasted by the insane level of our government wackiness. Actually nothing that is "government" really shocks me any more. Why is it that all common sense leaves the brains of the vast majority of folks involved here. Really? They (National Raisin Reserve administrators) have the right to take a percentage of the crop and use it for THEIR purposes? All in the name of price fixing? I suppose it seemed like a good time in 1937, but the growers that voted it in should have included some method by which they could recall or cancel the program. As has happened with so many well intended government programs, something that should have had a limited life span has become immortal. ARGHHH... I hope this guys wins his lawsuit and that they do away with this crazy program.
