I read this of the Marinai board. Just in case my Sig friends - TopicsExpress

I read this of the Marinai board. Just in case my Sig friends havent heard. I listened to the AFN interview that Captain Dennis did this afternoon and also attended the town hall meeting this evening. Here is a very brief summary of what was said: There are three separate issues going on right now that all involve the mail. The first one being backed up mail from the holiday season. Packages take longer than usual during that time, plus we had the added inconvenience of Etna erupting and delaying several mail cargo flights that would have brought our packages. A second issue is our mailing addresses all just changed. The post office is in the process of switching over and that requires a bit of a transition time. And of course the third issue (the one we all really want to know about) is this VAT business. As of now, only 27 packages have been seized and are in the hands of the Italian government. Leadership from Captain Dennis, NAVSUP Fleet logistics center Captain, all the way on up through the embassy are working on resolving this issue. They should get an answer tomorrow about whether or not those 27 packages can be released without paying VAT. If you haven’t been contacted, then to the best of Captain Dennis’ knowledge one of those 27 seized packages are NOT yours. From this point, hopefully the talks with the Italian government can continue and result in this entire thing not taking any traction. Technically this is something that is written into the treaty between our two countries and has been for quite some time, they’ve only just now decided to enforce it. Have some faith and hope that everything will get sorted out and go back to the norm. It does all leave us wondering where the rest of our packages are, but that was all of the info provided for now. Captain Dennis invited everyone to reach out to voice your concerns and questions via going to this town hall meeting, calling the post office and the ICE survey.
