I read where it said voting (basic political involvement) is still biased in favor of people at the higher rungs of social and generational ladders-those who are older, more affluent, better educated, more in touch with political events It said 8 out of 10 people who make over 50,000 per yr vote in an election. twice the voting rate of those who make less than 15,000 per yr and also 35% of all politcal money came from the 4% of people who make more than 125,000 per yr and 19% or the poor sampled made only 2% of politcal donations. So, the average Joe and Jane may not be adequately represented but its not the affluents fault. People really dont think it helps to vote especially when your more concerned about your electricity and food and if you have gas for the next day. However, you wield more power than you think. its time to get involved politically by voting and donating, yep, I said it, donating to a candidate of your choice...YOUR CHOICE and let your voice be heard. The 19% can change the politcal landscape with one of our own.
