I realize that some have taken to criticizing me for trying to help victims of domestic violence with a waiver on their utility deposits for sixty days. In the past twenty four hours, Ive been threatened with a lawsuit by the Mississippi Rural Water Association just for simply trying to give some breathing room for those who are in a violent situation. Let me be extremely clear, I plead guilty to trying to use the powers of my office to help victims of domestic violence. I absolutely pushed this idea and am proud of it. I also feel extremely confident in the legal status of the Commissions UNANIMOUS (3-0) ruling that we are operating within our authority. To those who want to criticize, complain and file frivolous lawsuits, that is your right and I respect it. But, as long as I serve as Public Service Commissioner for the people of these 33 counties I wont back down from important fights just because some grumble, some complain and some threaten to sue.
