I really do try to adapt my rescues for their new environment with cats, horses, etc. However, with Ilsa/Sarah it was a challenge as Christine Mariani Egidio and her husband Donn rescue dogs, cats, horses, sheep and pigs! I was able to take Ilsa to my wonderful friend Lynn Pedigo Mason beautiful farm as she also rescues dogs, horses and many cats. I introduced Ilsa/Sarah and Rex her brother on the other side of the fence with the horses. Lynns horses have such a calm energy and the pups smelled them through the fence.I had the pups lay down the most vulnerable position. The pups security word for something strange is gooood .... saying it calm and slow as I was knelt down beside them rubbed their bodies to sooth them. They did great! The cats approached in caution, they also smelled each other and I spoke to them in a calm voice again...gooood. Also a local vet has cats in their office for a up close introduction. I think it worked! ;-)
