I really dug THE SEARCH FOR GENERAL TSO, a documentary that explores the origins and evolution of Chinese food in America. The overarching thesis is Who was General Tso and how did this particular dish get created? but the film also explores how Chinese food became such a staple in America and what it says about the cultures place in the American landscape. Its funny, its educational and its going to make you want to drive down to New Orleans and visit the Chinese restaurant that has married its menu with the local scene - creating dishes that use alligator meat, for example. We screen the film this weekend at Vintage Park and, to celebrate, were offering up a custom dish - General Tsos Chicken Tender Basket.
