I really like the Jewish stages of mourning. The purpose is to - TopicsExpress

I really like the Jewish stages of mourning. The purpose is to let yourself take time to grieve honestly, and then to remember the anniversary of a loved ones death. The Talmud recommends that mourning stops after a year. You will always be sad and miss them, but there is a warning to not grieve excessively, to trust God, and after a year (of a parents death) to move fully back into life. Our culture often doesnt know when to grieve, how to grieve, and when to stop. These suggestions have helped me so much as Ive lost my parents. Today, a year ago, my mom died. She entered another space, both freeing and intimately right beside me and those she loved. May she be forever blessed.
