I really need to say this because I think Ive finally come to understand one meaningful constant in Mr. Pages career. He spent several years as a studio musician, play other peoples music, often interpreting said music into musical life. whether it was a rhythm track for the latest act on the seen to backing tracks for other genres, to the loathsome muzak tracks he would have to play to make a pound. when he finally stretched out again (he was in a touring band before his tenure as a studio man) to play in The Yardbirds his thought process and approach to musical recording, performing, and experimentation now included playing other peoples music. with his vast studio recording experience and playing chops, he could now pick and choose which songs to play. Then he got landed with a band name that had a few contractual obligations and all the creative control in the world. so he ran with it....I honestly think its not so much the plagerization that bothered people it was the royalties check and one glaring fact.....Jimmy Page and company played those songs so much better than their original composers and because of it made heaping mounds of money off it....so in essence he wasnt stealing music. in his efforts to bring his passionate loves to the forefront for all to hear, he exposed us all to musics we might never have known or explored....so Thank you James Patrick Page for putting us In The Light...I am forever in your debt.....
