I really want to know exactly what can be done to make Mother-Ghana Heaven -n-earth to live in. Governments after governments keep on struggling with corruption. All that we hear in Ghana on daily base is corruption! corruption! corruption!. Who are the corrupt ones? Is it my poor illiterate grand parents, uncles and aunties in the village? Of course No! It wasnt them, it isnt them and it can never be them. It is the very so called educated ones who jump onto the streets, threaten with strikes for virtually nothing significantly done for mother Ghana. Such people are found every where in the Public services, civil services, governments and in politics. These category of people are suppose to hold tight and protect the countrys purse and resources and also be custodians to manage these resources efficiently for our poor farmers, hard working skills workers and all of us Ghanaians including them. However, what do we see or hear? Corruption, poverty, diseases and illnesses that are not suppose to kill us. They seem not to care much about all these because its not them or their close relatives. Just imagine some stories that we watch on TV3 especially these days. Some are avoidable should we put things in place and order. In fact, Ghana is heading somewhere unpleasant that we all need to be concerned. Its like we are in a boat and when it sink, it sinks with all of us irrespective of the golden chains around your neck and suit or the Dzokoto under pants that we are wearing. What you have or wear or your political affilliation will not matter any more at that particular moment of time. We really need to ponder over the annual, decade and century recurrent of poor management, corruption and greediness that we have decided or failing to face squarely as one united people. Do our leaders and educated ones feel okay and not touched by the unfortunate plight of many citizens? What about conscience? Has conscience erroded or evaporated?? Interestingly, we talk, criticise, comment, cry as if we are Angels who could turn the country into land of milk and honey flowing for everyone to fetch but the story changes when we eventually get the opportunity to turn things around. Why? Why? Why? Is there any spirit behind power or position that takes away all the good thoughts of man when we assume responsible positions? Ghanaians who ever travelled or lived in these advanced countries can confirm that, except for those who decide to be homeless, (and listen carefully, they decided to be homeless because they still provide place for such people to live and eat till their creator call them) measures have been put in place for every human being that is a citizen to have life in general bearable including countries that do not have even quarter of the resources we have here in Ghana. Why cant we do the same? Why are we super greedy like that? My heart bleeds for Ghana. This runs through all parties or governments thathave ever been in power and not attributed to any particular party or government although the gravity of it might differ slightly. I am always of the view that former President Rawlings had the best opportunity to kill this evil attitude of corruption and extreme greediness in us but also failed. Please, we need to come together as one nation and kick out something evil that we all agreed and are convinced to be killing us now very sharply and not slowly. It is until we come together to think deep and cast out the attitude of greediness and corruption, we can only dream of building a land of milk and honey but will never see it come to pass.
