I really wish they would do a story on the entire healthcare system from start to finish instead of pointing the finger at one particular service. These politicians and news reporters should come ride along for a couple weeks to truly experience the system then voice all their opinions and facts. The cold hard facts are everyones understaffed, overworked, underpaid, and the system is ABUSED over and over again. If its not a shortage of ambulances then its overcrowded hospitals, and its even worse if theres a combination of both at the same time. Ambulances transporting the “frequent flyer” for their boxed lunch because you cant deny someone transport when they make up a chief complaint, meanwhile the person who truly needs an ambulance waits. Its impossible to predict emergencies. Theres sometimes that the city has so many ambulances that posts are double maybe even triple covered and they can all be gone in the blink of an eye. Unless your going to staff the city with 50+ ambulances at all times of the day, not handle non emergent transfers, and not pull city resources to other areas of WNY then the city will always run out of ambulances at some point or another.
