I received a phone call this morning from a news reporter who wanted my perspective on the two NY Police Officers who were assassinated in Brooklyn. I told the overzealous reporter that I strongly condemn any and all acts of violence whether its unarmed black men being gunned down by the police, black on black violence or the assassination of any police, violence is violence and its simply wrong. Well, obviously my response wasnt to the reporters satisfaction because he further inquired several times quote, Is that your answer, is that your answer? Because I failed to provide the reporter with the sensationalism that he desired for his story, he informed me that, he didnt know whether they would print my response and he had to hear from other activist. Sometimes the media can be the purveyors of bad news and further exacerbate a bad situation.
