I received a phone call this morning from one of the women that truly looked out for my Dad. She promised my Dad that while he was alive to never share a conversation they shared some time ago. Well, she shared that he expressed his love for me. He also shared with her that he wasnt going to live long. He continued to share with her that he didnt want me to be hurt at knowing this. The really tough part of her sharing is that he said he was hanging around for me. She went on to say I dont have his phone number. My Dad really knew me and he didnt give her my number. Lol! He told her to ask me and that I would give her the number. She asked and it took a couple weeks for me to give her my number. When I decided that I would give her my personal number I felt peace. Then I get this call from her this morning. I understand why my Dad didnt want me to know this back then. I remember back then picking him up to take him for a drive and openly sobbing at realizing he would not be here long. He put his are on my shoulder and stated hed be okay. This is when I stated to him that when he leaves in 50+ more years that I be with him as he transitioned. I then stated that if I were in the position he were in then I wouldnt leave before he was with me. Fast forward to Fathers Day where my Dad in fact took his final breaths on my cheek as I spoke quietly in his ear. I miss you Dad...
