I received a phone call this week from Gateway Christian Academy, which for those of you who do not know, is a school that I personally graduated from, as well as many other local homeschoolers. I was told that due to christian standards that River will not be able to attend or be enrolled in their academy because they only accept christian families. What was I being judged upon to show I could not give my son a christian homelife? The fact that I am unmarried. I was then given the choice of finding a new school, or sending back a marriage license within the month. Being a single mother already comes packed with its beautiful load of judgements, all of which I have been prepared to accept since the beginning, but this however was very disappointing. I hate that my innocent, beautiful, and clever child was punished because our way of life does not fit someone elses christian standards. I hate that that school is able to use that label regarding themselves. So judge all you like, punish as many people who dont have perfect lives as you like, and only keep the holiest of whom thou approvest of in your companionship- River will soon be enrolled and representing a new school. And this is 100% their loss.
