I received more negative feedback on this piece of writing than anything I have ever written, but I want you to read it anyway. If it resonates, please share it! bit.ly/1oviPEA Since writing, it’s been pointed out that the program I’m on and work for (weightlossrebels) is no different than any other program. According to the critics, the plans are essentially the same: 1. Counting or measuring 2. Tracking 3. Support Yeah, but. 1. I’m not using a magic (proprietary) formula to calculate an arbitrary value for the foods I eat. I’m measuring what my food is actually made of, ie protein, fats, carbs, sodium, vitamins, yadda yadda, because I now understand what my body needs them for and how it uses them. There are no pills, powders, potions, fabric, or processed food-like products to buy. I’ve learned that fat loss (and gain!) is hormonal and now that I can bring my own hormones back into balance with my food I don’t need a magic formula to tell me if I’m meeting my goals. 2. I was also able to lose about 60lbs of fat over about 7 months without tracking anything past the first few weeks in my WLR public journal. Once I understood the science behind fueling my body I didn’t stress myself about it anymore. I put very little pressure on myself about food and had far better results than anything I had ever tried before. I am never starving and I love what I cook and eat. Nearly everything is so flavorful and makes me feel good. I rarely weigh myself. Freeing myself from the scale was a huge change from previous weight loss efforts. 3. I’ve been a part of online weight loss communities before, Weight Watchers, The Biggest Loser, and Jillian Michaels. While in essence these forum communities are supposed to be supportive, unfortunately a LOT gets missed due to their sheer size, people fall through the cracks, get bullied, feel overwhelmed and don’t bother. At WLR you can start a topic on Meg’s own board and she will answer you personally. You can ask Stephen anything on his board or any of the others and he will answer you personally. You just don’t expect (or receive) that kind of support and attention from an online weight loss community. I knew it was a different ball game when I received a personalized welcome letter from a real person who read my membership application. I’m a seize the day kind of woman, so I ask and read everything that pops up. So I guess, in a nutshell, no. It’s not the same. - Amber (Rural Rebel Mama)
