I received several calls and text yesterday about my interpretation/definition of the title single mother...Let me clear something up...just because my interpretation/definition of single mother doesnt match up with yours...doesnt make me a mad, angry, or bitter person...Im none of that...I just have my own opinion. I look at this title as a sympathy title that society has created over the years for one to feel sorry for a woman with a child...when she is not with the childs father. Instead of holding her accountable as well. Just because a relationship doesnt work out with a man you have a child with...doesnt automatically give you the claim single mother. Many of these young women out here get pregnant...and before the child is even born into the world...shes already mad at the biological father...and seeking another man to replace him. Be accountable for the choice you made. No one put a gun to your head and made him put his sperm in you...you allowed it...so be accountable for it. These young women are using this single mother title as a badge of honor to raise her child without the biological father. But when a child turns out successful... the woman will take full praise...but if he/she turns out to be a criminal...all blame is placed upon the father. Well if you want to claim single mother...then you need to claim the criminals to. I have 2 sisters with children born out of wedlock...but I dont look upon them as single mothers because they both work and take care of my nephew and niece...and they get both time and support from their fathers. Just because a relationship doesnt work out...but the child is in your full custody...but you do get support from the father...doesnt give you the claim single mother in my opinion...youre a co-parent. If youre a divorced mother...and the children are in your custody...but you do get support from the father...I dont look upon you as a single mother...but a co-parent. You dont see men walking around claiming a title single father...The only true single mother in my opinion...is a widow with children...whos husband is deceased by some sort of illness or accident...and not one whos husband is deceased do to being involved in negative activity...because thats the man you chose to set the example for your children...I have no sympathy for that...
