I recently came across another early picture of one of the longtime KATI alums. Larry Wakefield started at KATI in 1966 and was hired specifically to be the announcer on the brand new night-time CY Strip Show. He came to Casper from Sheridan and was one of the longest term employees of Pat Meenan and KATI. While he started as the nighttime jock in 1966, he worked his way up to General Manager in 1969 after Bill Sims left for station ownership in Cody and elsewhere. Larry presided over the madness at the Big-14 until the station was sold in 1981. Larry went on to become a very successful Real Estate Broker in the Flathead valley of Montana, where he still resides today. Larry has probably sold more land and houses in Kalispell, Montana, than anyone else there in years. This particular photo was taken in the original KATI control room at 1400 KATI Lane. The console behind him and the entire room was completely designed and built by longtime station engineer, announcer, programmer and all-round good guy, Steve Broomell. He used Fat Daddy Steve Harris on the air every weekday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. Steve started at KATI in 1961 and left for a couple years, only to return in 1964 to 1969. I hope I have the dates right, but if not Larry can correct me and well edit them. This is a great photo of a classic radio icon in Casper! Larry Wakefield - KATI Control Room - 1968
