I recently read from the new supply in which she noted I hope the next few years are better...and sadly this is exactly what draws us closer to the narcissist. That hope for change. The attempt to try to go back to what once seemed so surreal and alive. That last ditch effort to possibly convince yourself or others that the relationship is worth salvaging or that the narc simply fell upon hard times and that it soon will all be different. Narcissist do not change. Personality disorders and mental disorders are what make up the very essence of the narcissists. Regardless of being born, made through trauma or parental/family upbringing or some other unexplained events the narcissist exhibits certain character traits and flaws that if ignored will continue to eat at the very fiber and soul of our own self. Denying these actions, these behaviors, these unexplained coincidences over and over will only escalate and prolong the inevitable. The trail of destruction that a narcissist leaves behind sadly speaks volumes. Learning about narcissism is a great way to begin the healing process. Focusing on lessons learned and progression towards inner healing with help with placement of emotions that at times may feel overbearing. Never forget that though a narcissist may never change, victims can change . Take all the time necessary, and use all available resources including therapy/counseling if you feel its needed. You are your best source in knowing what is best for your own personal needs. Trust your gut instincts and follow your heart. Do what is best for you in recovery in life after narcissism.
