I recently watched a friend unpack a pistol from the factory box. He had bought the gun a few years ago, fired it a few times, cleaned it and put it away until he could get a little more training with it. The pistol stayed there in the closed factory case until he unpacked it the other day. He was shocked to discover rust on the surface of the new pistol! Folks, many new shooters dont realize that the foam in most storage boxes will take the oil from the surface of guns that are in contact with it and that will actually promote rust. Lets be sure to inform the new shooters (and anyone else who might need to know) that foam lined boxes are not safe for long term storage.
