I remember around the age of 12 or so, thinking it very weird that my parents called each other Mum and Dad, not John & Ginny. Not just ask your dad but Dad, can you bring me a drink?! And my mother, when talking about her dad, would have to preface- Dad, you know, *my* dad, your grandpa... Well, now I find myself in a similar situation, as Paul is in the shower, and Im telling Giant Dog that daddy is going to take him in the car, and I accidentally called Daddy, referring to Paul, who fortunately didnt hear me. And this is with a dog. Not 2 kids over 13 years. So, yeah, I get it now.
