I remember having the college/no-college discussion with someone - TopicsExpress

I remember having the college/no-college discussion with someone several years ago. Told him back then, as he was preparing to graduate from HS, that because of todays economic climate the pursuit of a college degree wasnt worth it and that SKILLS were more important. Everyone else around him was pushing him towards more schooling and I told him otherwise. I wonder how hes doing today? :) . I can understand that we all have goals in life. Perhaps finishing off that degree that you once had started but had to put off, etc. Nothing wrong with that since it can serve as a building block of confidence once you have attained it to help you get to that next level. What you have to understand now (and since 2008) is that todays economic climate is nowhere near the same that I grew up in. I graduated as an Electrical Engineer in the late 90s. . You younger ones, those of the Millennial Generation, have to go against the grain if you want to SURVIVE what is going on TODAY. Like I told this young lad and like Ill say again today, if you want to get ahead based on what is going on in the economy today, LEARN SKILLS. Be an apprentice in an industry/skill you have a passion for. . Learn the trade. Learn how to succeed. Then you succeed. . https://youtube/watch?v=kXpwAOHJsxg
