I remember just sitting alone in front of the tv that day, crying - TopicsExpress

I remember just sitting alone in front of the tv that day, crying and sobbing. I remember thinking how terrified I was not knowing what would happen next. I remember thinking about how hard it was for me to leave my children in school that day as the principal talked me into letting them stay. I just wanted to go and grab them and hug them. This was terrifying to so many of us. But what stands out the most for me on that day was a little drive I took when I finally mustered up enough courage to leave my home. It was a little drive down Plumb Lane. A Veteran was there... by the side of the road. He was decorated with his many ribbons and medals. He was holding an American flag. It was a huge flag... beautiful stars and stripes. He was waving it ferociously at each car passing by. I remember looking at the beautiful flag waving back and forth and bursting out crying once again. But what struck me the most about this man, was the anguish that I saw on his face. He looked sad and hurt and angry. He was old and tired yet he looked like he was ready to go to battle again. This is a symbol of true love for our Country. This is the Spirit of America that seemed most strongest, in my lifetime anyway, right after the dust settled from this attack. I will never forget his face. If you would like to share a memory from 9/11, I would love to hear it.
