I remember poking through that place in my middle school years. - TopicsExpress

I remember poking through that place in my middle school years. Some time in high school it burned down and only the foundation and steps out front were left. I remember the pool and the hidden stairway (super narrow) hidden in the entryway wall that went to the attic in the wall behind the main fireplace. A panel folded out to get in. I remember the destroyed marble work in the upstairs bathroom. It was sad, all the vandalism, but it also was a *very* creepy place that I am grateful to have seen a few times before it came down. The last time I snuck onto the property someone had dug three graves in the ground in the circular drive in front of the house. Creepy as hell... This makes me think of that other mansion we used to snoop around as well as Donkey Lady Bridge and the old Chinese Graveyard. San Antonio has a rich history of legends and haunted places. And we kids loved every scary trill that ran down our spines. But for me, Midget Mansion was the all-time apex of coolness and freakiness. I was really sad when I heard that the place was no more. I think that happened when I was in 9th grade, maybe? So I got to experience this place at the tail end of its evil life...
