I remember the introduction of TV in Singapore in 1963 -- I was a kid. The 1st TV sets were expensive & only a small % could own them. People watched TV in the community centres. The hours of broadcast were few. In the street I lived -- Rangoon Road -- a kind neighbour invited all his neighbours to watch TV in his home. So all the children would troop over from 4pm to 6pm to watch cartoons and some series including Wild Wild West. On Thursday and Friday evenings, Tamil movies would be shown in 2 parts and I would go with my mum to watch. We did not have a TV in my home until Dec 1971 because my father did not approve of having a TV in the home. Only after he passed on 26th November, 1971 did we venture to buy one.
