I remember the wild-card Detroit Lions losing to the Cowboys at Dallas in the 1970 playoffs, 5-0. Ive attached a video replay of that game, with the incredible opening to CBS games back then.https://youtube/watch?v=ym3ZcpVHaZ4 My father took Kim & I to the Sveden House on 28th Street in Wyoming, and then we came home to watch the Lions struggle to score against the Doomsday Defense. That defense was led by All-Pro Bob Lilly, among others, and Dallas ended up losing a close Super Bowl to the Baltimore Colts in January 1971, before winning it all the following year. In 1991 (technically, January 92), Detroit pummeled Dallas in the playoffs, advancing to the NFC title game, only to lose to Washington, which went on to win the Super Bowl. Lions right guard Mike Utley was paralyzed from the waist down in a game that season, and left guard Erik Andolsek was run over and killed by a wayward vehicle in his front year the following summer. The Lions offensive line was never the same after that, but that didnt stop Barry Sanders from going to the Pro Bowl for 10 straight seasons. // Last week, I predicted on Greg Chandlers Facebook page that Detroit would lose to the Pack, 30-21. This week, Im predicting a 27-26 Dallas win. I would take Detroit, if Ndamukong Suh were playing. But not having he and Nick Fairley up front should allow DeMarco Murray & Co. to rack up a fair amount of yardage on the ground.
