I remember when....you could say Merry Christmas without being - TopicsExpress

I remember when....you could say Merry Christmas without being reminded that its not fair to those who dont celebrate....I dont care. Wish me a Happy Hanukah and I will wish you the same. I dont get offended so get over yourself. I remember when stores were not only closed on holidays but on Sundays. Sundays were for church (and the only way you got out of church is if you were missing a limb or bleeding out of your eyes). After church was family time, and maybe a little play time with the neighborhood gang. I remember when you would ask people, What did you do for the holidays and not What did you get. I remember the look you would get from your mom if you were on the phone (the black dial one with the 6 cord in the hallway) when there was company in the house. 2 looks and youd better run. I remember when we worked in the grocery store and we could actually make change of a dollar without the assistance of a register or calculator. I remember standing at a parade when a veteran marched by. We understood respect. I remember when there were 7 TV stations and TV ended at midnight. I remember waiting for my family on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. I remember eating at a SIT DOWN DINNER AT A DINING ROOM TABLE. Not a buffet, not grab your food and sit wherever. I remember getting that one special thing for Christmas, not $1200 worth of stuff so I could Fit In with my so-called friends. I remember when family time meant something, when family meant everything, when family went out of their way to help each other. I remember when you ate what you were served or you didnt eat. And chicken nuggets did not exist. I remember happy times before cell phones and computers and Kindles. I WILL ALWAY HOLD A BOOK IN MY HAND, NO KINDLE. I remember going places and actually enjoying the moment and not taking pictures of it. I am guilty of this and will stop to enjoy things more. I remember when doing things mattered and not buying things. I want nothing for Christmas, honestly. I would rather spend time with you, maybe get a burger and beer and catch up. You are more important than what you wait on line to get me. Really :) I remember my mothers siren like scream up 84th avenue when I was late for dinner. Christmas is for the Rockettes which I have seen every single year since I was 4. This is one thing I will never miss. Last Christmas was the best when we decided that everyone takes only $50 and you need to be creative as you can with it. I loved those gifts more than anything else. THIS IS MY RANT FOR TODAY....DONT AGREE, DOESNT MATTER. I WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY, SHOP FREE THANKSGIVING, A MERRY CHRISTMAS, A HAPPY HANUKAH AND WHATEVER ELSE YOU MAY CELEBRATE.
