I returned from a trip with friend Greg from the Twin Cities, where we attended our old friend, past supervisor, and great public health leader Charlie Schneiders funeral in Brooklyn Center. Charlie was a great mentor, and cared so much about each of his employees, and the challenges we faced in doing thousands of inspections a year, and keeping track of all the reports, fees, and issues to correct on repeat visits. Many of the inspectors gathered with Charlies large family and group of friends, for a final sharing if his joys with children and their families, his devotion to his wonderful wife, and set with tears in our eyes while a grandson gave a very personal and touching eulogy. His work and many accomplishments, and family successes that he helped start will continue on for the betterment of all of us.
