I salute you all! First and foremost is to extend my warm regards to each and every one of you for your unwavering support and faith in the Mathira Education Trust fund (Met fund) initiative. It is because of this support that the Met fund dream is now a reality, having raised funds to the tune of six million, one hundred and fifty one thousand, five hundred and seventeen Kenya shillings. (Ksh. 6,151,517.00).As we had earlier on stated, these funds will only target to benefit the bright but needy students in our society, who hail and sat their KCPE examinations within Mathira constituency. In regard to the above, I am glad to announce to you that we intend to kick off the first phase of this program as early as next month (February 2014) with the awarding of full secondary school scholarships (form 1-4) to twenty five (25) beneficiaries, each from the twenty five locations in the constituency; a move that aims at incorporating regional balance within the selection process. The twenty five (25) beneficiaries will be arrived at through an objective, competitive, transparent and unbiased selection process. Potential beneficiaries will be vetted by an able and qualified selection panel comprising of education, religious, administrative and constituency representatives. To qualify, an applicant must be academically capable but hailing from a poor family, Should have attained at least 340 marks in their KCPE and must be a resident in the location he/she wishes to benefit from. I thereby invite all potential applicants to avail themselves at the various stations set up in every location across the constituency, on the stated dates and time, for an opportunity to secure one of the twenty five scholarships. I believe this will be a major milestone in restoring our lost glory in the education sector. “If you want 1 year of prosperity, grow grain. If you want 10 years of prosperity, grow trees but if you want 100 years of prosperity, grow people.” Thank you and God bless you.
