I sat on the marble floor in front of Shirdi Sai baba, inside the temple. I remembered the words of Sai baba who had once told that he would never remain anywhere as an idol or image. No one ought to treat him that way. He would remain as a living entity even if someone scribbles and draws his replica on a piece of paper. A pre-recorded Sai bhajan cassette was playing. A melodious song with accompaniment of soulful music floated across the air. I sat , eyes closed and entered into a trance of tearful devotion. An hour flitted by in the lithe world of sonorous music. The jingle bells roused me and I left the place in a mood of joyous self-abandon. I rode my bike swiftly across the lonely streets and reached the Kalimandir square. I saw my tailor drowsing. I had to clear my throats a bit loudly to arouse him from his noon nap. He had kept my pant bundled up within the same paper wrapper I had brought it in. I unwound the cotton thread, investigated the sore spots, was satisfied and asked how much I were to pay. He said with a great deal of hesitation, "twenty rupees." I paid him the amount and turned to leave. He called me from behind and said, "Babu, I have charged you a little more today. It is the bandh fay. I eill have very few customers or none at all." Tears came to my eyes for the second time then. I said, "It is alright. Keep it. You really deserve it. Who else would have served me this day.?" I thought to myself-It is the Lord who had sent me to this needy man in answer to his prayers. ~The End~
