I saved 2 lives today. One of our mice had her babies yesterday and today she somehow got a piece of duct tape and 2 of the babies got stuck to it. I worked for 2 & a half hours first thing this morning, slowly trying to get them off of the tape without pulling their skin off or without pulling a limb off or without hurting them at all. And I mean, I literally just woke up, went to the bathroom, and Angel knocked on the door while I was still peering, saying it was really important. I finished & opened the door & she showed me what happened, so I got busy working on it immediately. Finally, 2 & a half hours later, with the help of a q-tip, toilet paper, water, a tiny paintbrush, baby oil, and A LOT of patience, compassion, & a steady hand, I got them off of the tape. They both look fine, just with a little bit of baby oil residue left on them. I made sure to get most of it off though, so that mama mouse doesnt get sick from licking them. Luckily they didnt need to eat while I was doing that. But one looked a little purple at one point, so we got very concerned. And I think the smaller one was kind of upside down for too long, because its little nose is very red. Hopefully theyll be fine though. But Im so happy I got them off of there. They wouldnt have survived if I hadnt, because they couldnt eat in the positions they were in.
