I saw Skip Schumaker with his wife and two children grocery shopping at Kroger today. Doing the normal family stuff. And looking like an ordinary family. They walked in at the same time I did. Here was this very fit guy, wearing a baseball cap and a very tight black tee shirt, with tats running down both arms. Then I realized who it was. I said hello, and he smiled back. As did his wife. And that was that. I suppose the thing that amazes everyone is that despite being Major League Baseball players, they are also husbands and fathers trying to live a normal life outside of what they do on a field. It has to be more difficult than we all imagine. So the next time you see them out in public with their families, its ok to say hello, but its not ok to take up their personal time. Because it is a finite commodity.
