I saw references to this film (La Jetée from 1962) as influential of 12 Monkeys, the trippy time travel loop movie with Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis. I hadnt heard of it so I got a hold of it to watch, and found I didnt even need subtitles, which surprised me. I began to watch the film and found the narration a bit overpowering (but perfectly clear) however the picture seemed more like a slide show. I was certain I must have a corrupted copy so I was just seeing every 300th frame or something and so I dug a little deeper. Its supposed to be like that. The only film that could also be faithfully converted to a coffee table book. Also explains the lack of subtitles. Just put a new audio track in and youre done if THERE ARE NO MOVING PICTURES.
