I saw this movie (portions, I couldnt take it then) years ago and have been just watching and listening while working today. (thanks R. Rickets for the reminder!) Its not easy to watch but everyone SHOULD watch it because its not only a documentary, theres no sugar coating... straight up, no chaser and the black people that portrayed the slaves were Haitian actors/not acting just being and I had forgotten how horrible it was to watch the first time but thats the only way to describe it. Watch this movie and dont chicken out, stick with it. Take breaks if you need to but stick with it - its the best lesson in American history youll ever get and its a class being taught by the Italian film crew and the commentary of actors portraying actual French & British writers of the period. https://youtube/watch?v=VCtCEKzmMsQ Some Quotes from reviews: The inhumanity of previous generations makes you bow your head in shame The premise of the film is brilliant--an Italian documentary film crew is transported back in time to interview and bear witness to American Slavery on all levels--from rich slave owners, to the veterinarian who must clean and delouse the slaves, to the poor whites who dont own slaves but invade their quarters for the purposes of rape this movie holds nothing back
