I saw this post and think its the best way to put it back in the POSs face: GOP should have taken Obama’s declaration of amnesty, declared victory and cast it in legislation. Hoist him on his own petard! We know Obama’s lying, but go look at what he SAID: Only legal status, not citizenship. No federal benefits. Must pay taxes. Strengthen border. I could go on, but Obama couched his entire action in conservative terms. You and I know he’s lying, but the GOP should take that language and send it to him in a bill. 1) Strengthen border. 2) Define who qualifies: been here x years, steady employment record, clean criminal record, pay taxes, etc. 3) Grants legal status, NOT citizenship. Citizenship still requires go back home and apply like everyone else. 4) Make it a federal crime for any state, agency to provide federal benefits to a person with this status. No SS, no medicare, no food stamps, no Obamacare or Medicaid, no housing assistance, no welfare, no Earned Income Tax Credit!!! 5) Specify that employers can only hire those with this new status. Those who do not qualify under the new status requirements will be deported immediately. State/City governments which do not comply will lose federal funding. Obama claimed he was proposing ALL of those items (except the deportation part). So the GOP should enshrine exactly those proposals in a bill and send it to the WH. Dare him to veto it. He probably will, but we would have shown the public that he’s lying about his intentions.
